Did you know that.....

Germany is a federal state made up of "Bundesländer". Although all these states have their own governments with far-reaching competencies in many areas, a central government is responsible for such things as taxes, defense, railroads and foreign policy. The various Bundesländer are much more independent than the Dutch provinces.
