Today is the Tag der Deutschen Einheit in Germany and it is an official holiday.

On November 9, 1989, the Wall fell, a historic moment unparalleled in history. East and West Berlin belonged together again. That became official 11 months later on Oct. 3, so this day is now in the books as German Unity Day.
