Germany fact:

Women earn on average 18% less money per hour (gross) than men in Germany. In 2023, for the fourth year in a row, women in Germany will have earned on average 18% less money per hour than men, according to the Bundesamt.

Women in the Netherlands have started earning less on average than men over the past 2 years, according to research by Intermediair and Nyenrode Business University.

Countries deal with the wage gap in different ways. "Iceland has already had a law since 2018 requiring all companies to look at gender inequality in job evaluation. Great Britain has also had a government site where all large companies must upload their pay gap reports for a few years now."

Within Europe, the Wage Transparency Directive has been passed, requiring all countries to pass legislation within three years requiring companies to report on the wage gap within their companies.
